Texas Christian University did now allow fraternities to colonize on the Fort Worth Campus for many years. In the early 1950's, a movement began to establish a greek community on campus. The Delta Tau Delta alumni chapter of Fort Worth, which had been relatively inactive following the Korean War, was reorganized under the leadership of Dr. William Hulsey. Numerous meetings were held to lay the groundwork for the new chapter, and eventually Delta Tau Delta became one of eight fraternities invited to colonize on the TCU campus in the fall of 1954. The Epsilon Beta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta was officially chartered at TCU on May 7, 1955.

  • Fraternity History

Delta Tau Delta Fraternity was established in 1858 on the campus of Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. Angered by a fixed vote for control of the Neotrophian Literary Society (the only social outlet for Bethany men at that time), eight men broke away from the society and created their own secret organization. This organization was known only by the Greek letters ΔΤΔ and was created to restore integrity, accountability, and honor to the college, and to uphold the core values of truth, courage, faith, and power. These are values that the fraternity holds sacred to this day.

In 1886, Delta Tau Delta merged with the Rainbow Fraternity (affectionately known as the WWW: Wine, Women, and the Wisdom thereof). The WWW was an old and respected southern fraternity founded in 1848 at the University of Mississippi. This union helped to fortify the fraternity and expand our influence throughout the south. The Rite of Iris, a pre-initiation ceremony, was adopted from the ritual of the Rainbow Fraternity.

Since that time, Delta Tau Delta has been a leader in the fraternal world, and remains among the most prestigious collegiate fraternities still in existence. Since 1858 the Fraternity has spread to nearly 200 campuses with over 120 active chapters and colonies comprised of about 6,500 undergraduate members. In just over 150 years, the fraternity has initiated in excess of 150,000 men.
